Our Saturday night family worshipped together for the first time after Hurricane Ike hit the Texas Gulf Coast communities. Such a sweet presence hovered over us as worshippers experienced great depths of hunger, prompted by the suffering and disparity of the storm. Heavy burdens were lifted as the Spirit invited us into His sovereign presence.

Tonight, we learned to focus on trusting in God. It is not a time to waste anxious thoughts on surrounding circumstances that are primarily beyond our control. Instead, we must control our thoughts. We can choose to trust Jesus Christ our Lord in these difficult times. When we do, we are blessed (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

A vital part of trusting God is to believe His promises. Such faith is a sure test to determine whether we actually do trust Him to be our Helper in the time of trouble (Psalms 46:1).  That strong belief enables us to reach out to others.

Intercession was heavy. Many came to the altar to pray for the healing and needs of loved ones. The Spirit is so sweet when we worship in the midst of crisis.

Together in His presence,
